Even one strength training session a week could make a difference

In a commentary republished by ScienceDaily from The Conversation, Newcastle University researcher Christopher Hurst argues that strength training is central to countering sarcopenia, the age-related loss of muscle mass and strength. He cites evidence that a single weekly session may bring meaningful strength gains, particularly for newcomers. He adds that lighter weights lifted for 20 to 25 repetitions can match heavier loads when effort is high.
