Pilot trial suggests structured support may help limit weight regain after GLP-1 treatment
Medical Xpress reports on a small pilot randomized trial, published in Obesity Science & Practice, of 39 adults who had lost weight with GLP-1 treatment and then stopped. Over four months, the usual-care group gained an estimated 10.75% of body weight, versus 3.60% with a digital wellness app and 3.58% with medically tailored meals. Diet quality, adherence and satisfaction did not differ significantly between groups.
Why it matters: Relevant to adults who have lost weight on GLP-1 medication and are stopping it, and to clinicians who support patients through that transition.
